I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone 1. I've always like the place but s. Other than that, I have no complaints. So I walked in a little after 12:30pm and I wanted breakfast for two of my friends and myself. And the staff is very friendly as well. I had the baby hot brown and could not finish it. I use to drive by this little place and there was always a line of cars waiting and always wondered what were they serving.
My husband had a burger with tater tots. I always get the salmon croquettes with eggs and grits. Because I have to have a savory side, I recommend a couple of eggs and some fried potatoes as an accompaniment. But my taste bud soon kicked in and I realized I was only tasting biscuit and fried flour. My wife had a soup of collard greens, white beans, and sausage with cornbread, and I had a bourbon burger and chips.
The server told us the pies are awesome and that the breakfast is fabulous; so I have a couple of reasons to stop in again sometime. She finished hers well before me, but had to rest a bit once she was done because of the effort she put into her meal. It was old and nasty. I really liked the Pumpkin Barrel Ale, and I will add it to my growing list of brews I like and will order. Mamie's Cafe with love was inspired by her caring, family centered approach to life. My grilled cheese finally came out, with the same fries as before because they were cold. Pulled pork, barbecue sauce, nacho cheese, jalapeño and cole slaw! Get your eggs done by order instead of off the line, they are a bit runny for me.
If you decide to visit this restaurant, you must have plenty of patience and you absolutely cannot be in a rush! My husband liked his bacon, sausage and pancakes, which looked good, but I didn't try because he adds a lot of syrup to them. Cash only, 21 year old bartender had no personality and poured one jigger per drink. Dan had the Bourbon Burger with fries and gave his meal a five star review even though he doesn't have the Yelp app. I wished though the egg would have been over easy goodness versus hard yolked. Just couple it with a hot cup of joe or a big glass of milk.
You may need a little salt or pepper for the eggs and grits. We eat out every meal, and if we had to eat eat at Mammy's again, we'd rather eat at home. Not feeling the salmon rolled in a ball though. The food was cold and the potatoes were crusty from sitting. I'm a former server so I hate to give bad reviews. My cod appeared to have been forgotten in hot oil for several minutes; once I broke through the too-well done breading, the cod was actually very tasty. We selected cupcakes and a small 2 tier cake for our daughters wedding and the taste as well as the visual affect.
Now even though it had no flavor, it fooled me at first and I managed to give it a smile beacause it was crunchy as hell. Â This will become a regular spot when I am down there. It's perfectly made, fluffy with a true bourbon taste. I love the biscuits with the cane patch syrup. As was I with my butterscotch meringue pie. We looked up Mammy's Kitchen and Bar and because of the positive reviews and many mentions of Tyler a server at Mammy's, we took a chance - and are we glad we did. We shared chips and salsa for an appetizer; while I would have preferred the chips heated, they were quite tasty.
The only time I suggest Waffle House is when he wants to come to this little place. It had a whopping amount of perfectly crisp skinny onion rings as toppings that I used as a side too. Best regards, Tony Review Source: My boyfriend and I came here with high hopes, as Mammys has apparently won many awards and is a local favorite. I've never eaten inside, so I don't know about the lobby or bathroom areas. I'd like to give this 3. It doesn't look like much on the outside but the food on the inside is delicious.
We had the bad luck of getting the same waitress each time. We had the bad luck of getting the same waitress each time. We saw our waitress twice o.  Great  egg's Benedict with hash-browns with onion and cheesey goodness. They never put enough cheese in the cheese grits. The lady on the phone was super friendly and told me my order would be ready when I got there.
