The period and the way the film is shot is none short of excellent and beauty, and some of Blue's Siesmasko's clients are nasty, but in the end, the film has you asking what's the purpose of it. Eureka Entertainment's upcoming Blu-ray release of Wild Orchid contains the shorter Rated R Version of the film, which runs at approximately 105 minutes, and the longer Unrated Version, which runs at approximately 112 minutes. Emily encourages James to reach out to her, offering him her love if he makes an effort to touch her. Wild Orchid is Unrated for extremely strong graphic sexuality, nudity, adult language, and for some mild violence. The real star of the film seems to be Rio de Janeiro, from the first breathtaking shots of the enormous Cristo Redentor statue above the city and the staggeringly beautiful aerial shots o f the harbor below to the views of the beaches, hotels, streets, and festivals. All in all, this is a really solid presentation of Wild Orchid that makes it easy to experience the film in an entirely new way.
Some navy sailors at the party try to make advances on the wife; James fights them and he, Emily, and the couple leave quickly in his limousine. The release contains the shorter Rated R Version and the longer Unrated Version of the film. The little scene with Dominique getting done by a hunk in a steam room, where she catches Blue discreetly spying was hot. Occasionally there is small unevenness in the mid-range and some of the dialog can be a bit flat. Music by Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen. Highly recommended to the appropriate demographic.
Jaqueline Bisset is wonderful as always. And was the sex real. Thousands of listings heading ebay way in 2018! Both actors denied this but the director was ambiguous. Grain is visible throughout the entire film and quite well resolved. The biggest thing about this movie is how beautiful it is. This was Carre Otis's first film and she is somewhat tentative and uncertain in her performance. The next morning, Emily wakes to find James watching her.

In fact, I think that it looks even better today -- it is a dreamy and very effective escapist film with an atmosphere contemporary directors are quite simply incapable of producing. Though really there were quite boring stretches in this, that scene with Blue being dominated by her first client in that blue room was ridiculous. James intrigues Emily; he is quiet and asks personal questions without being demanding or rude. Bottom line: It's not Citizen Kane, and for 1990 it was terrible, but for 2001-02, it's a heck of a lot better than today's releases.
The lowest-priced brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging where packaging is applicable. This is an erotic type of movie, more mild than I'd anticipated, but emotionally intriguing. This is after making a bad choice in the wake of her very sick father Skeritt, a sax player here, wasted. His speech near the end, before the final 'scene,' is really impressive, and Mikey really is a great actor. Earlier in the film there is another very good scene that is shot in an abandoned hotel but it has a very different vibe. But the atmosphere does not distract -- it is actually treated as a crucial element of the relationship between the two protagonists. I thought to myself that no actor would have sex on film with another actor unless it was a porn.
